While our north-side windows here overlook lovely woodland and the lake, the view to the south is plain street. A couple of trees, a car lot – and, diagonally across from us, a building site where they’re constructing a new primary school. Up until last week, the board fence surrounding this site was an inconspicuous white.
Unfortunately, some no doubt well-meaning individuals sprayed it with bright pink sentences assuring us that Jesus was alive and loved us. It wasn’t a pretty sight.
However, the town council came to an arrangement with some local graffiti artists, who covered some of the pink and set to work transforming the fence. A couple of school classes will be involved soon too, and the fence, which is still a work in progress, now looks much better:
I can’t wait to see what the schoolchildren do with their section!
Next week, I’ll have a picture of a different kind to share. A UK book blogger has very kindly offered to do a cover reveal for The Attic Room on her blog – as soon as it’s live I’ll put up a quick post with the link. The cover isn’t what you’d call pretty either, but I really like it. It’s effective in the same way as the cover of The Paradise Trees, and it suits the book. So watch this space! 🙂
