Arosa is a little town at the end of the high Schaanfigg Valley in Canton Graubunden, 1800m above sea level, and about 130km south of my home. There’s a lot going on there – skiing in winter, hiking in summer, and as there’s no through traffic, the air is amazing, so it’s a popular health resort too. I spent an afternoon there earlier this summer, and found a whole collection of quirky bits and pieces just waiting to be photographed.
The train ride up from Chur takes you through some lovely scenery:
When we arrived in Arosa, the first thing we saw was this building. I love colour so it’s definitely worth a photo, though it isn’t nearly as impressive as the Hundertwasser architecture in other areas, and the supermarket on the ground floor doesn’t do much for the rest of it…
though it’s a nice contrast to the bank next door:
Further round, we found a more traditional house – wood and geraniums:
The local library is spectacular:
And this is the horse dung depository – very clean and organised!
As you see, it was a greyish summer day when I was there – here’s Arosa in winter sunshine.
I think I might have to go back…
