It was a dilemma for Josiane, my main character in Missing, Rose Malone, and it’s one I’m glad I’ve never encountered personally. She and Rose had grown up neighbours, and they’d always been friends, even though Josiane was a few years older. She knew Rose – didn’t she?
And yet…
Community carer Rose is missing. Gone, vanished without trace, leaving no word behind. Rose’s friends are worried sick, but their nightmare is only beginning. Because Rose has a secret…
When I started looking into missing people in the UK for this book, I soon realised that statistics vary – some are for the UK as a whole, some are for England and Wales only, and some include Scotland too. Overall, though, well over half the missing people are children, and women and girls are more likely to be reported missing. And each one of them leaves behind people who don’t know where they are.
What do you do when your friend goes missing and there’s no family around? You search for them, you ask people, you contact their employer, you look on social media, you go to the police. And then?
Here’s the blurb:
Missing. Vanished. Gone?
Josiane Kent is worried. Her friend Rose has posted zero photos on social media all week, despite being on holiday in Edinburgh, the most photogenic city ever. Not only that, she isn’t answering her phone. Something isn’t right. Josiane, along with Rose’s on-off boyfriend Matt and Val, Rose’s boss, starts investigating.
Meanwhile, lone wolf Eddie is mourning his grandad. Grandad always made sure Eddie kept his demons under control, but now, no one is helping and the demons are out.
Rose’s friends continue their search, but it isn’t until human remains are found in Grandad’s old garden that they realise what could have happened to Rose…

There isn’t going to be a pre-order so I can’t give an exact publication date – this will depend on how quickly the books goes through the Amazon checks. All going well, however, Rose Malone should hit the Amazon stores at the end of the coming week and will be 99p for the first few days only. Watch out for her on social media too!
