The โ€˜Bโ€™ booksโ€ฆ #A-Z books ๐Ÿ“š

This is an adaptation of something I saw on Twitter recently โ€“ people were posting 26 books in 26 days, each title beginning with a different letter of the alphabet. (Donโ€™t worry, Iโ€™m planning on taking around 26 months to get to Zโ€ฆ) Each month Iโ€™ll post a newish book Iโ€™ve enjoyed, preferably a friendโ€™s book, plus a childrenโ€™s book and an older book.

My โ€˜Bโ€™ books are:

Bad Seed by Heleyne Hammersley
This is the third in the series but can easily be read as a standalone police procedural, and like all Heleyne Hammersley’s books, it’s a cracking story with great characters.

Black Beauty by Anna Sewell was one of my biggest favourites as a child. It was Anna Sewell’s only book, written mostly when she was bedbound with TB, and sold for a single payment of ยฃ40. Anna Sewell died just months after it was published, so she never saw it become one of the top ten best-selling novels for children.

ย

Blindsight by Robin Cook
I’m a huge fan of medical thrillers, and Robin Cook has written some of the best. A handful of them, including this one, feature pathologist Laurie Montgomery.

Next up, you’ve guessed it, the ‘C’ books…

‘Armchair travel at its best’
Cass Grafton

‘A well-crafted story’
Susanna Bavin

‘An emotionally charged novel’
Jennie Ensor

Hmm, this is a good idea for a series of blog posts, Linda, but you are just adding more and more to my TBR ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

I have all Heleyne’s books on kindle, but my Robin Cooks are ancient and yellowed paperbacks… might get some of them on ebook too.

It’s such a great book, isn’t it? One I went back to time and again as a child. I can remember watching a good TV adaptation too.

I also chose of Anne of Green Gables for A. Those wonderful books from childhood stay with you for ever.

Goodness! They’re real comfort reads, aren’t they? Don’t tell me what you chose for C – I’ve got mine picked out for next month! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thanks, Heather. I’ve planned as far as C now. Some letters might need a bit of thought… ๐Ÿ™‚
