Back to basics in the woods…

The wood behind my flat has seen big changes in the past couple of weeks. I didn’t include a woodland photo last week as we had so many lovely Yorkshire pics in Helen Pollard’s guest post, but we’ll have a look now. Here’s the photo from November 7th, a lovely sunny day:

IMG_0547On the 15th, it was more overcast and less leafy:

IMG_0549And just for comparison, this is the first woods photo of all, taken on the 20th March this year:

IMG_0322Today, snowflakes are drifting down through the trees – lovely! (Lovely to look at, that is. I’m not a big fan of being out in snowy weather unless sunshine, mountain restaurants and mulled wine are involved too…)

Book news:
Book Four is back from Julia the proofreader now. It’s always depressing to see how many typos slip through even when you check it yourself several dozen times – but that’s exactly why we need proofreaders!
The next stage is the cover, which means I have to make the final decision about the title, and I have two contenders here. One is on the ms and I probably will go with this one, but there’s another idea I like almost as much…
The cover image is amazing, and I’m really looking forward to working with the designer to perfect it for my book. All will be revealed in a few weeks.

Meanwhile, here’s a preview of next week’s post:

You have such a lovely view of the woods, Linda. I can imagine it’s lovely when it snows . . . although I’m with you on the mulled wine thing!

I have always loved your woods, but now you can see the path too, making it more intriguing! Where does it go, I wonder?

  3. Beautiful pictures. I love the way you captured the changes in the forest! We had some snow flurries in the Zurich area as well and the temperature dropped quite a bit. Praying for sunny weather for next Wednesday!! A picture of Zurich!
Typos? Don’t get me started. Even after editing and proofreading by third parties, I keep finding them and have to upload new versions of my books. Sigh. At least, though, as an independent author, I can upload new versions. Congratulations on Book 4!

My goodness Linda! I can’t believe you are almost getting book 4 out – well done 🙂 – I wonder what I’m doing with my time sometimes – haven’t even started number 4 😦

  5. Your woods look like the trails up here in Alaska where I run, or at least how the trails looked a month ago, before the snow fell down and covered everything. Can’t wait to see your new book cover and please, don’t even get me started on typos. I’ve had some really embarrassing ones that I’m still doomed to remember. Cheers and have fun on your vacation (I think you’re going on vacation, right? Or do you call it a holiday over there?)

No holidays here unfortunately, just days out! But they’re great too.
Your Alaskan trails will be miles and miles longer and way more remote than our wood here… even at the far end of this wood you can still hear the building site on the other side of the flat. But I’m still loving having a wood in my back garden!
      Happy Thanksgiving Day 🙂
