Rhinoceros Graffiti…

The building site along the road is busy – and noisy – these days. They’re pushing hard to get the roof on before winter, so for six days a week we have banging and hammering in the background. Not to mention a horrible whining noise which is apparently the machine that compresses concrete.
Part of the perimeter fence has been removed and replaced, and our local team of graffiti artists has been at work again.

Sections range from colourful…

IMG_0536Some subjects look rather plaintive.

IMG_0537Others are stuck in cages.

IMG_0534This one’s clearly worried…

IMG_0539but the one at the end’s more cheerful.

IMG_0538The building’s set to be complete by next summer – so I’m hoping for another graffiti post for my blog, maybe in springtime. Watch this space!

  2. Building, building, building … next to my home here, same thing. Construction noise for the past few years. Now, it’s better, thank God. I always wonder during my yearly visit how long it’s going to take until Switzerland is one large concrete slab with houses next to houses. Fortunately, we still have the mountains and some of them are uninhabitable, so nature still has some power to keep the wild development in check. Also, the forests are protected by law. And the fall colors are wonderful. Great graffiti, by the way!

We have the builders on one side and the woods on the other… I know what you mean – this area is one large building site. Fortunately we have the lake, no one has suggested building on water. Yet.

Not exactly what you expect to see from your window, but strikingly different to those lovely trees!

I love well-done graffiti like that – so much more fun than plain old building materials. I love the bird in the cage – and the rhino is just fantastic!

  5. Nice post, and love the graffiti. Wish someone would spiff up our neighborhood in such a way. It’s so colorful and vibrant. Cheers and hope you’re having a great weekend (we’re getting dumped with another snowstorm but what’s new, eh?). Happy writing.

I like the fact that there are so many animals. The building’s going to be a primary school, I don’t know if the artists chose their animal themes because of that. I must go and have another chat next time someone’s out painting.

brilliant i love street art of any kind; it doesn’t always work but since it is essentially ephemeral it doesn’t matter; just experiment and move on.
