It’s almost time to say goodbye to our temporary flat.
It’s been a good time, but I won’t be sorry to leave. Nineteen months of no pictures on the walls is enough. If I’d known at the beginning we’d be here this long I might have hung a few bits and pieces, but no use crying about that now. We are packing.
Before we go, I’d like to share one one of my favourite things about this flat. It has
H U G E windows, and as I didn’t want to be living in a goldfish bowl, we needed curtains. But curtains for a temporary flat… Off I went to our nearest Swedish warehouse, and what I found there gladdened even my thrifty Scottish heart. I purchased the white-blue-green curtains for the princely sum of Fr.4.95.- per pair… (To give you a better idea of this bargain, the plastic runners to sew on the top were Fr.12.- per packet of 25.)
So we were able to watch the build of the new flat in a suitably-curtained manner.
And now it’s finished, barring the garden area and a few things on the terrace that need night-time temperatures constantly above 5°C. We move just after Easter.
The best thing about the new flat? The view. At the front we have the street, to the side (on a clear day) the mountains of Austria, and at the back:
The woods. I can’t wait to watch them come to life this spring!
Hope all goes well with the move, Linda. That’s a great view from the window!

Thanks Helen – it’s amazing! I think I’ll take a photo on the 1st of every month… a year in the woods… watch this space! 🙂

Well worth the wait, I’d say…for the trees alone! Best wishes for you in the new place…

Your new views look fantastic! Hopefully, those bargain curtains will still do the job on the street side.

That’s the idea. Even though one of my friends did compare them once to a shower curtain… 🙂
